Medical Office Receptionist
Job Description
Include patient check-in, patient checkout, scheduling, answering multiple phone lines, and various other office duties. Qualified candidate must have excellent customer service skills, computer and communication skills.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Manages the schedule to ensure smooth workflow of clinic
- Checks patients in and out in a timely, welcoming manner
- Responsible for the daily accurate balancing of patient charges
- Works closely with billing office to obtain accurate charges, coding, or other information needed for resolution of accounts
- Filing charts and records alphabetically
- Accurately entering patient information into patient database
- Maintaining tidy and welcoming atmosphere in waiting and checkout areas of clinic
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1-2 years’ experience working in a medical office preferred
- Working knowledge of scheduling and patient software preferred
- Experienced with electronic medical records
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
- Keyboarding/ Dexterity: Frequently; activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
- Standing/Walking: Frequently; activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
- Strength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Sedentary (exerting up to 10lbs of force occasionally)
- Talking (Must be able to effectively communicate verbally): Yes
- Seeing: Yes
- Hearing: Yes
- Color Acuity (Must be able to distinguish and identify colors): Yes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a medical office, within a particular medical discipline a plus.
