Job Description

The Paralegal is responsible for managing litigation and transactional cases, including, but not limited to, document review and retention, drafting pleadings, performing legal and fact research, corresponding with clients and other counsel or parties, and calendaring deadlines and events.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Investigate or conduct research on individuals, companies or other matters relevant to the litigation and prepare memorandum summarizing research.
  • Conduct witness interviews, prepare witness statements.
  • Perform research on proposed or named experts re: prior testimony or work as an expert.
  • Perform research on possible defendants, witnesses, and other parties or matters, re: address, assets, SSN, DOB, DBA, companies, other names and/or other litigation.
  • Draft Requests for Admissions, Interrogatories and Request for Documents; draft Responses and Answers to the same
  • Draft Subpoena Duces Tecum to 3rd Parties.
  • Serve as additional contact point/liaison with client or opposing counsel.
  • Coordinate mechanics of document production; labeling, imaging, and indexing. If digital, process and load into other document production or management software.
  • Prepare document images for use as exhibits in hearings, mediation, deposition and/or trial presentation; and prepare exhibits for use in deposition.
  • Duties include various trial and post-trial responsibilities as well.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate certification in paralegal studies.
  • Minimum two years of experience working as a legal assistant in a law firm or equivalent environment.
  • Three years or more working in Microsoft Office software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Paralegal Studies or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience as a legal assistant.
